Prayer Focus of the Week: Pillar DC
Scripture Reading: John 8:12–20 (ESV)
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13 So the Pharisees said to him, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.” 14 Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. 17 In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. 18 I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.” 19 They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
Worship Songs:
Beautiful One
Wonderful so wonderful is Your unfailing love
Your cross has spoken mercy over me
No eye has seen no ear has heard
No heart could fully know
How glorious how beautiful You are
Beautiful One I love You
Beautiful One I adore
Beautiful One my soul must sing
Powerful so powerful Your glory fills the skies
Your mighty works displayed for all to see
The beauty of Your majesty awakes my heart to sing
How marvelous how wonderful You are
Beautiful One I love You
Beautiful One I adore
Beautiful One my soul must sing
You opened my eyes to Your wonders anew
You captured my heart with this love
‘Cause nothing on earth is as beautiful as You
Beautiful One I love You
Beautiful One I adore
Beautiful One my soul must sing
My soul my soul must sing
My soul my soul must sing
My soul my soul must sing
Beautiful One
Here I Am to Worship
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
And You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
And You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Announcements:
Members’ Meeting – We will be holding a members’ meeting TODAY after service. If you are a member of Pillar Church, please make plans to join us as we discuss some important topics. We only meet a few times a year, so it is important that we gather as many members as possible. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Ladies’ Group – Our May meeting will be on Saturday, May 8th at 10am. This month our focus is Engage/Fellowship. This will be our last gathering before we take a break for the summer! Our plan this month is to go on a hike/picnic at the Wilderness Gardens Preserve just past Pala. It’s a very easy flat trail that has shady points along the way. Kiddos are welcome. There are a few rocky points, but a jogging stroller and some friends could manage. A baby carrier would be ideal. Bring your lunch and plenty of water. The picnic area is near the parking area, so you can leave your lunch in a cooler in the car if you don’t want to hike with it. The picnic tables are a bit spread out, if you have a lawn chair, please bring one so we can sit closer together.
We’ll be meeting at the Park and Ride on the 76 and the 15 at 10am so we can caravan/carpool. Parking is $3, and carpooling vehicles will be paid for. Hope everyone can make it. And if you haven’t been attending ladies group and still want to come, PLEASE DO! The more the merrier! If there is anyone who wants to join that can’t participate in the hike, the picnic area is quite lovely and people are more than welcome to sit and read and enjoy the scenery and we can have lunch together after. The hike should take around 45 minutes. If you have any questions, please contact Kristy Martinez at 760-505-2928.
Life Groups – Life Groups play a significant role in the life of believers. As their name suggests, we are literally “doing life” with one another. It’s in these smaller groups where relationships are deepened and the opportunity for biblical fellowship increases from Sunday morning interactions. Our next session starts up again this week and we have the following options:
Wednesday Nights at the Hills- 7pm, Home of Stephen and Eve Hill, P. Trace facilitating, studying “Reading the Word Together”.
Friday Nights at the Furtados – 7pm, Home of Jerry and Adri Furtado, P. Michael facilitating, sermon-based study.
Please visit Pillar Small Groups to join a group and for more information/addresses.
