Prayer Focus of the Week: The Praetorian Project

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 2:13–17 (ESV):

13 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

You’ll Come

I have decided I have resolved
To wait upon You Lord
My Rock and Redeemer shield and reward
I’ll wait upon You Lord

As surely as the sun will rise
You’ll come to us
Certain as the dawn appears

You’ll come let Your glory fall
As You respond to us
Spirit rain
Flood into our thirsty hearts again
You’ll come You’ll come

We are not shaken we are not moved
We wait upon You Lord
Mighty deliverer triumph and truth
We wait upon You Lord

As surely as the sun will rise
You’ll come to us
Certain as Your word endures

Chains be broken lives be healed
Eyes be opened Christ is revealed
(REPEAT)

Good Good Father

I’ve heard a thousand stories
Of what they think You’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whisper
Of love in the dead of night
You tell me that You’re pleased
And that I’m never alone

You’re a Good Good Father
It’s who You are
It’s who You are
It’s who You are
And I’m loved by You
It’s who I am
It’s who I am
It’s who I am

I’ve seen many searching for answers
Far and wide
But I know we’re all searching for answers
Only You provide
Because You know just what we need
Before we say a word

You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us

Love so undeniable I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
Into love love love

What a Beautiful Name

You were the Word at the beginning
One with God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ

What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

You didn’t want heaven without us
So Jesus You brought heaven down
My sin was great Your love was greater
What could separate us now

What a wonderful Name it is
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

Death could not hold You
The veil tore before You
You silence the boast of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring
The praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again

You have no rival
You have no equal
Now and forever God You reign
Yours is the kingdom
Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name above all names

What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

Members’ Meeting: If you are a member of Pillar Oceanside, please make plans to attend the members’ meeting following service on Sunday, October 24. Bring a lunch (or pop out and grab something), the meeting will last roughly an hour. If you are pursuing membership, you are welcome to attend and observe.

Meal Train for the Eckenwilers: Baby Mabrey made her arrival last month, and we are blessing the Eckenwilers with meals as they are getting settled into parenthood. There are still a few spots left on the meal train–please sign up here if you are able to provide a dinner!

Life Groups – Our Life Groups play a significant role in the life of believers. As their name suggests, we are literally “doing life” with one another. It’s in these smaller groups where relationships are deepened and the opportunity for biblical fellowship increases from Sunday morning interactions.

This next week is our last of this session for Life Groups! After Oct 8, we will be taking a 2-week break and then pick up.

We will have 3 Friday options this session which include a potluck meal and study from 6-8 pm:

Friday Nights in San Onofre – Hosted by the Rynishes, facilitated by Luke Rynish, “Teach us to Pray”, studying through the Lord’s Prayer

Friday Nights in Vista – Hosted by the Martinezes, facilitated by Trace Martinez, “The Chosen”, each week we’ll watch and discuss one episode of The Chosen TV series

Friday Nights in Oceanside – Hosted by the Massies, facilitated by Michael Young, “The Chosen”, each week we’ll watch and discuss one episode of The Chosen TV series

Fight Clubs are same-gender groups of about three people encouraging each other to live a life aligned with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The ultimate goal is to love Jesus more, through our affection for him and our allegiance to him, by helping each other rehearse the gospel and fight sin.
