Prayer Focus of the Week: Local Churches
Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:16–21 (ESV)
16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.
18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
Worship Songs:
Desert Song
This is my prayer in the desert
When all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides
This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame
I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I’ll stand
I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
All of my life in ev’ry season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favour and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve received I will sow
I Love You, Lord
I love You Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship You
O my soul rejoice
Take joy my King
In what You hear
May it be a sweet sweet sound
In Your ear

Group Life Membership Class – God’s design for his church is not that we would live like family, but that we would live as the family he creates us to be in Christ. Healthy families express their commitment to each other in various ways. Healthy churches also express their commitment to each other in various ways. One of the primary ways we express our commitment to each other as a church family is through meaningful church membership.
The starting point for our membership process begins with our Group Life course. Completing the class does not automatically make you a member of Pillar Church, but the class is a prerequisite for those who wish to go through the membership process. Our goal is that by the conclusion of the course, you will have a clear understanding of the beliefs, direction, and structure of our church family, as well as knowledge of the benefits and expectations of membership with Pillar Church.
Our next Group Life Membership Class will be held TODAY, Sunday, April 25 at 12:30 at Del Rio Elementary. Lunch will be provided. If you would like to join us, please speak to one of the Elders immediately.
Men’s Group – This month we will be learning a new and practical way to read and study the Bible. Join us as we examine God’s word together. Coffee and donuts provided. Please contact Trace Martinez at 760-505-0843 for more information.
Members’ Meeting on May 2 – We will be holding a members’ meeting on May 2nd after Sunday service. If you are a member of Pillar Church, please make plans to join us as we discuss some important topics. We only meet a few times a year, so it is important that we gather as many members as possible. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Life Groups – Life Groups play a significant role in the life of believers. As their name suggests, we are literally “doing life” with one another. It’s in these smaller groups where relationships are deepened and the opportunity for biblical fellowship increases from Sunday morning interactions. Our next session starts up again this week and we have the following options:
Wednesday Nights at the Hills- 7pm, Home of Stephen and Eve Hill, P. Trace facilitating, studying “Reading the Word Together”.
Friday Nights at the Furtados – 7pm, Home of Jerry and Adri Furtado, P. Michael facilitating, sermon-based study.
Please visit Pillar Small Groups to join a group and for more information/addresses.
