Prayer Focus of the Week: Loving others well

Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:6–12 (ESV)

6 This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Worship Songs:

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone I’ve been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Anchor of Hope

Righteous redeemer and mighty to save
He’s the anchor of hope for the souls of men

Gracious compassionate merciful God
Radiant holy delight
Beautiful Father victorious Son

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise
Refuge of strength to the end
Righteous redeemer and mighty to save
He’s the anchor of hope for the souls of men

You are light in the dark

You are hope You are Lord
You are life You are love that endures

Group Life Membership Class – God’s design for his church is not that we would live like family, but that we would live as the family he creates us to be in Christ. Healthy families express their commitment to each other in various ways. Healthy churches also express their commitment to each other in various ways. One of the primary ways we express our commitment to each other as a church family is through meaningful church membership.

The starting point for our membership process begins with our Group Life course. Completing the class does not automatically make you a member of Pillar Church, but the class is a prerequisite for those who wish to go through the membership process. Our goal is that by the conclusion of the course, you will have a clear understanding of the beliefs, direction, and structure of our church family, as well as knowledge of the benefits and expectations of membership with Pillar Church.

Our next Group Life Membership Class will be held at on Sunday, April 25 at 12:30 at the Martinez home. Lunch will be provided. Please connect with one of the elders if you have questions and contact Pastor Trace at 760-505-0843 if you would like to RSVP.

Life Groups – Life Groups play a significant role in the life of believers. As their name suggests, we are literally “doing life” with one another. It’s in these smaller groups where relationships are deepened and the opportunity for biblical fellowship increases from Sunday morning interactions. Our next session starts up again this week and we have the following options:

Wednesday Nights at the Hills- 7pm, Home of Stephen and Eve Hill, P. Trace facilitating, studying “Reading the Word Together”.

Friday Nights at the Furtados – 7pm, Home of Jerry and Adri Furtado, P. Michael facilitating, sermon-based study.

Please visit Pillar Small Groups to join a group and for more information/addresses.
