Prayer Focus of the Week: Pillar Woodlawn

Scripture Reading: Colossians 4:2–4:6 (ESV)

2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. 5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Big Sunday – The 1st Sunday of every month is “Big Sunday” at Pillar Church and things may look a little different than our typical church day! Here’s what you can expect:

  • It’s a family service with no children’s church. There is a Family Room available with the service live-streamed, so if your family needs space to spread out, this room is ready!
  • For our Treehouse class (K-5), be sure to take notes (there are sheets printed for you on the book table). If you bring your notes to show Mrs. Kristy after service, you can choose something from the Treasure Box!
  • Hospitality Table Potluck! If you would like to bring a breakfast item or dish to share on the hospitality table you are encouraged to do so! If you’re able to bring a breakfast dish to share with the congregation, please bring it by 9:30am so we can enjoy it before service.

Grab a name tag from the Welcome Table. We want to take the opportunity each month to have a visual on those names you need a little help remembering. Every Sunday at Pillar is a GREAT Sunday, the 1st Sunday of the month is just a great BIG Sunday!

Come Hungry Season – This summer we will have a time of food and fellowship every other Sunday through August! This is a time of year where we get to enjoy eating, playing games, and getting to know each other. Each Come Hungry will be “hosted” by a family in the church who will choose the theme and provide the main dish. Everyone else will bring a side dish, dessert, or drinks to share with the group. If you’re interested in hosting a Come Hungry either in your home or at the park, please speak with Jacque. Our first one is June 11th!

Life Groups – Our Life Groups play a significant role in the life of believers. As their name suggests, we are literally “doing life” with one another. It’s in these smaller groups where relationships are deepened and the opportunity for biblical fellowship increases from Sunday morning interactions.

  • Oceanside: Done for the season, we’ll start again in September
  • San Onofre: This Life Group meets on the last Sunday of the month from 4-6pm in San Onofre Housing. The next meeting will be on May 28th. We’ll be sharing a potluck-style meal with a bible study as well. For more info please contact Keith MacDonald at (757) 513-5059.

Giving – There are several ways to give at Pillar Church. Click here to give online, or you may drop your offering in the box located on the Welcome Table. Thank you for your contribution!

Fight Clubs are same-gender groups of about three people encouraging each other to live a life aligned with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The ultimate goal is to love Jesus more, through our affection for him and our allegiance to him, by helping each other rehearse the gospel and fight sin. Fight Clubs strive to meet at least twice a month for an intentional, focused time devoted to the word and genuine fellowship. For more information or to sign up contact:
